You might have read about the superbugs that were shutting down different parts of Bristish hospitals a few weeks ago. Some hospitals had to shut down all the walk in clinics and many wards were shut down to visitors.
Now the hospitals are starting to use yogurt to help fight the superbugs. According to the BBC some hospitals in Sussex part of the UK have started to give out probiotic yogurt. The thinking is that it might cut down the Clostridium difficile bug.
Basically the friendly bacteria in the yogurt is helping depend the body against the bad bugs. What is interesting is that they had not been using this as part of an overall health strategy earlier.
In North America Probiotic yogurt and other foods are easily available in most major grocery stores right now. No need to hike it to some health food outlet.
