Another study has revealed the benfits of tea drinking. The study was just published by the University of Wisconsin-Madison.
Its interesting that the study mentions that the benefits of green tea are not that much greater than regular black. Its important to note one details that might be overlooked by some folks, herbal teas do not count. You can forget about getting those special tea induced benfits from any of those peppermint or rosehip types of teas.
What the herbal teas lack is tea polyphenols, compounds with antioxidant activity, that may protect against heart disease and a variety of cancers. Some studies have show that green or black tea inhibits the growth of human prostate cancer cells implanted in mice. Also some studies of mice have shown that topical application or ingestion of green tea polyphenols helps protect against skin cancer.
Also some studies involving people that revealed that theanine, an amino acid in tea, have been able to focus better.
